Standard & Co. is the first location of a new coffee shop brand, situated in the beloved seaside neighborhood of Bebek, İstanbul. From the outset, the brand identity and spatial concept were developed in close collaboration with the client, aiming to create a sensory-rich and socially engaging café experience.

Music played on vinyl records and curated artworks set the tone for a warm, immersive atmosphere. At the heart of the design is a central island bar; an unconventional layout that invites customers to gather around, face each other, and engage directly with the barista. This open setup blurs the boundary between service and guest, encouraging spontaneous social interactions and creating a sense of community.

The overall concept is inspired by the charm of vintage Italian espresso bars, reimagined through the lens of raw, contemporary, creative spaces. Earthy textures, honest materials, and a relaxed spatial flow come together to evoke the feeling of stepping into a friend’s kitchen; casual, familiar, and full of character.

A small terrace with flexible, reconfigurable seating extends the interior's social energy outdoors, allowing guests to make the space their own. Designed not only as a local favorite but also as a scalable brand model, Standard & Co. sets the foundation for future locations around the world.
